The differences in the two brothers can hardly be more pronounced than in their predilection to being on their tummies and eating solids. One was all for them and the other no. Jethro does not like to be on his tummy, and would cry and eat his hands after spending some time on it. Even now, at nearly 7 months, I can still leave him on the double bed when I am away for awhile because he doesn't really roll. He would roll over (always to the right), and stay there in that position, crying out eventually. It seems he's agitated he can go no further, yet I have never seen him roll back to his back. Recently, he has started to move a little backwards when he tries to raise his bottoms and I have to be more watchful there. Ethan never has this 'backward' movement phase and loves to roll over and over and over, crawling at around 7 months. Jethro loves to sit and this is indeed a sitting month for him.
Solids wise, I have never encountered such tiring moments with Ethan. With Jethro, I have to distract, entertain, stealthily slip in a teaspoon of food at times to get him to eat them. I have also tried different consistencies of the porridge or mashed potatoes just so he doesn't spit them out or give that 'yucks, what's that?' expression upon first taste. Finally, after about 5 weeks of trying, he has started to take in more solids without complaining. Once I mashed potato, parsnip, carrots and lentils together and added a bit of his milk, and he took it very well.
We went to Gorgie City Farm on 21 Mar as we had a week of very good weather. However, it was at times cloudy that day and with the rather cold wind, it seems we had contracted colds. The young ones are not so affected by it seemingly, whereas it made the two older ones even more easily tired. Sigh, old age.
